They say that your attitude determines your altitude and I'm inclined to shout that at the top of a mountain top because it's so freakin' true. The oxford languages dictionary defines attitude as a settled way of thinking or feeling about someone or something, typically one that is reflected in a person's behavior. So attitude is pretty much how we decide to show up in the world.
I believe that attitude is that unseen force that drives us to live that way we do, to think the way we think and to say what we say. It's the landmark of our achievements, both great and small. The way we appear in the world is largely influenced by our personal attitude -- is your attitude positive, development oriented, of a growth mindset or is it negative, defensive, arrogant?
Attitude enables us to adapt to different situations in life -- whether that adaptation is positive or negative depends solely on how you decide to show up. We have no control over most of the situations we find our selves in, but we can choose our attitude as we grow through these situations. We cannot change the past, but we can make decisions to change our attitude to it.
Should we keep being defeated by our ancestors' bad choices?
Do we look at bad experiences as an opportunity to learn or give up?
Do we remain silent in the face of injustice just because it doesn't affect us?
Should we wallow in self pity because everything went downhill after Kobe's death?
Attaining a better attitude regardless of what is going on around you is a game changer and the results are LOUD.
Here's why attitude is a game changer:
- directs your thoughts and goals
- improves your mental health
- provides you with great values
- improves human connections
The incredible thing about the right attitude is that it is contagious. Excited people excite others, motivated leaders motivate their followers ... be on the right side of attitude. 👊🏾
Choose your attitude wisely because it is a game changer.
